Brad Bird joined Pixar to direct The Incredibles after the critical success of his earlier film The Iron Giant. It was the first Pixar movie to feature a cast of entirely human characters, presenting new animation challenges, especially in realistically animating fabric and hair. Samuel L. Jackson, who voices Frozone, became so iconic that his line “Where’s my super suit?” became a fan favorite almost instantly. Brad Bird also voiced Edna Mode, the eccentric superhero costume designer, after struggling to find anyone who could capture her distinct voice. The Incredibles won two Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing, and helped push animated films deeper into action-genre territory.
