Star Trek: First Contact, directed by Jonathan Frakes, is the eighth film in the Star Trek franchise and the second to feature the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The USS Enterprise-E crew travels back in time to mid-21st century Earth to stop the cybernetic Borg Collective from preventing humanity's first contact with an alien species, which would alter history and lead to Earth's assimilation.
