Reservoir Dogs, the debut feature film from writer-director Quentin Tarantino, is a crime thriller about a group of diamond thieves whose planned heist goes terribly wrong. The film depicts the aftermath as the surviving criminals, strangers to each other and identified only by color-coded aliases, try to figure out what happened and who among them is a police informant, leading to escalating paranoia and violence.

Did You Know?

Much of the film takes place in a single warehouse location, a decision driven partly by the low budget. The film's non-linear narrative structure, sharp dialogue, and stylized violence became hallmarks of Tarantino's filmmaking style. Several actors who became frequent Tarantino collaborators, like Harvey Keitel (who also co-produced), Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen, starred in the film. The now-infamous ear-cutting scene was reportedly so intense that some audience members walked out during early festival screenings.
