This 1986 musical fantasy film was directed by Jim Henson and executive-produced by George Lucas. It tells the story of Sarah (Jennifer Connelly), a teenage girl with a vivid imagination who, in a moment of frustration, wishes for goblins to take away her baby half-brother, Toby. When Jareth, the Goblin King (David Bowie), fulfills her wish, Sarah is given 13 hours to solve his magical labyrinth and rescue her brother before he is turned into a goblin forever. The film is a cult classic, beloved for its imaginative puppetry from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, its memorable songs written and performed by David Bowie, and its enchanting coming-of-age story.

Interesting Tidbit: The mesmerizing crystal ball manipulation performed by David Bowie as Jareth was not actually done by him. The tricks were performed by professional juggler Michael Moschen, who had to crouch behind Bowie and perform the complex contact juggling moves with his arm reaching through Bowie's costume, all without being able to see the crystal balls. The final effect is so seamless that it appears as if Jareth is effortlessly defying gravity.
