This 1989 action-adventure film, directed by Steven Spielberg, is the third installment in the original Indiana Jones trilogy. Interesting Tid-bit: The casting of Sean Connery as Indiana Jones's father was an inside joke and a direct homage to the James Bond films. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg had originally conceived of Indiana Jones as an American version of the debonair British spy. By casting the original 007 as Indy's father, they were explicitly acknowledging that "James Bond is the father of Indiana Jones." Funnily enough, in real life, Sean Connery was only 12 years older than Harrison Ford.
