Eight Below is an adventure drama directed by Frank Marshall, inspired by a true story. Set in Antarctica, the film follows a scientific expedition forced to leave behind their beloved sled dogs during a brutal storm. As the dogs struggle to survive the unforgiving elements, their trainer, played by Paul Walker, fights against all odds to rescue them. Heartwarming, intense, and beautifully filmed, Eight Below is a moving tribute to courage, perseverance, and the deep connection between humans and animals.

Did You Know?

The film is a loose adaptation of the 1983 Japanese movie Antarctica, which was itself based on real events from a 1958 expedition.

Over 30 Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies were trained to portray the eight main sled dogs, with different dogs specializing in different tasks.

Paul Walker developed a strong bond with the canine actors during filming and often praised their professionalism and spirit.

Eight Below was filmed in various locations including British Columbia and Greenland to replicate the harsh Antarctic environment.

The movie became a surprise box office success and is often cited as one of Disney’s best live-action animal adventure films.
