This iconic 1987 romantic drama is set in the summer of 1963 at a resort in the Catskill Mountains. It tells the story of Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey), a naive teenager who becomes infatuated with the resort's charismatic dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). After Johnny's dance partner is sidelined, Baby steps in to learn the sultry "dirty dancing" style, leading to a passionate and forbidden romance. The film was a massive, unexpected hit, celebrated for its electrifying dance sequences and its Grammy- and Oscar-winning soundtrack, including the song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

Interesting Tidbit: The famous scene where Johnny and Baby are practicing and he sensually runs his hand down her arm was not originally in the script. Jennifer Grey was genuinely ticklish, and her uncontrollable giggling was her real reaction. Patrick Swayze's visible frustration with her laughter was also authentic, as he felt she was being unprofessional. The director, Emile Ardolino, loved the genuine chemistry and frustration between the actors so much that he decided to keep the take and write it into the film.
