Corpse Bride is a stop-motion animated fantasy directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson. Set in a gloomy Victorian village, the story follows Victor, a shy young man who accidentally proposes to a mysterious corpse bride while practicing his wedding vows in the woods. Swept into the lively underworld, Victor must navigate two very different worlds to find where his heart truly belongs. Darkly whimsical and beautifully crafted, Corpse Bride is a tale of love, loyalty, and second chances.
Did You Know?
The film was shot using digital cameras instead of traditional film, making it one of the first stop-motion features to do so.
Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, frequent collaborators with Tim Burton, voiced Victor and Emily, adding their signature charm to the characters.
Each puppet was crafted with incredibly detailed mechanical parts, allowing for more subtle and expressive facial movements than ever before in stop-motion animation.
Danny Elfman, a longtime Burton collaborator, composed the film’s score and provided the singing voice for the character Bonejangles.
The vibrant, colorful underworld contrasts sharply with the drab, gray land of the living, a deliberate choice to invert audience expectations about life and death.
